Real Madrid will face Juventus for this season’s Champions League title after completing a 4-2 aggregate win over city rivals, Atletico in the semis on Wednesday night.

The defending champions went into the second leg at the Vicente Calderon with a 3-0 lead but a blistering start by Atletico left them shook.

Saul Niguez gave Atletico a 12th minute lead with a header before Antoine Griezmann‘s penalty made it 2-0 after just 16 minutes.

Atleti’s bubble was burst later in the first half though, with Isco pouncing on a loose ball to score from close range.

Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo missed chances to score for Real, while Luka Modric saw an effort ruled out for offside.

No matter however, as Zinedine Zidane‘s men ended Atletico’s Champions League dream yet again, after beating them to the title in 2016 and 2014.

Atletico’s consolation comes from winning the last ever Champions League match played at the Vicente Calderon.

Los Blancos will now aim to become the first club ever to retain the title when they face Juventus – in their second final in three seasons – in Cardiff on June 3.
